Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Churches Together Walk in Tuesday.  We had a great turn out from St Michael’s and across the churches and it was a really enjoyable day.  Ailsa.

Barn Dance Friday 4th October With our Barn Dance and Harvest Supper now only a couple of weeks away, please do purchase a ticket if you can – and think about who you can bring.  we would like to sell some more tickets to enable us to meet our costs in putting on what will be a great evening of fun and fellowship on Friday 4th October.  And remember that you don’t have to dance (although I bet you will!).  Join us at 7 for food, fun and a really great time.  Tickets are available from Angela and Ailsa.

This gives you the full Amazon service, but Amazon will then donate 0.5% of the purchase price directly to our church. There are leaflets at the back of church in the book corner and by the collection plates showing you with simple pictures, how to select our church as your chosen charity. Kate Smith.

Christmas Fair The date this year will be Saturday 16th November 1.30pm – 4pm Please contact me if you have any thoughts or new ideas, it will be a parish event so everyone is welcome to have input and it will be gladly received. New helpers always welcome. Thank you Heather Coppack

Children’s Society Boxes. Please may I have the boxes in for the annual opening. I apologise for being a bit later this year. I should be in church at the 9am service most weeks, so will be happy to accept the boxes when you bring them, or I can arrange to come & collect them if you let me know.  Kathy Runham.

Play My Part:  After a loss of confidence following a back problem last year, I am now back running!  I am not quite ready for a Half Marathon but am doing my first race this year, a little 10K at Tatton Park on Saturday 2 November.  I thought I would use this as an opportunity to “Play my Part” in raising funds for our church and I am hoping you will be able to sponsor me in raising £100 (or more!). for St Michael’s.  There is a sponsor form at the back of church and I would be grateful for anything you feel you can give.  Thank you.  Ailsa.

From the Chester Diocese Cycle of Prayer:

In this harvest season of thankfulness, we keep in mind the pressures under which those in the farming and associated food industries work. In particular we focus on the work of the Cheshire Agricultural Chaplaincy Team which covers the whole of Cheshire and Wirral. The team provides 24:7 support to the farming community with a listening ear for as long as required, pastoral support and an ability to bring in supporting agencies when required.

The majority of people seen by the team are suffering from depression, mental health issues or financial difficulties. Team members apart from visiting individual farms, attend local livestock markets, local agricultural shows and preside at church services.

Farming as an occupation has one of the highest rates of suicide, many farmers are suffering with difficult issues like financial pressure, isolation, adverse weather conditions, family disputes, government regulations and inspections, administration, poor harvests and livestock disease all combined with long hours of work. All this contributes to serious levels of depression, and the possibility of self-harm.
