Playing my Part Two: “Playing my part” in 2017 has had such a positive response that instead of ending the year with an expected deficit, we have finished with a surplus. So, we challenge ourselves again to see how and where each one of us can raise an extra £100 using our skills, our possessions, our time and the resources available to us. We will also have a programme of social events throughout the year to raise money together and strengthen our community links. Thank you, well done and let’s keep going forward!

Safeguarding Training: The next date for any of our volunteers to attend for training in matters relating to safeguarding of children and the vulnerable is on Wednesday April 25th, 10:00 to 13:00 at Church House, Daresbury. Registration can be made on the Chester Diocesan website. If you have any difficulties or do not have computer access, please contact Ian Casson on Tel: 6252595. All leaders and helpers are encouraged to attend. If you book a place kindly let me know.

SAVE THE DATE!  Ailsa’s ordination will be on Sunday 22nd of July and we are hoping that as many people as possible from St Michael’s will be able to join her at Chester Cathedral on what will be such an exciting day for our parish as we celebrate our first curate being ordained and beginning her ministry with usA coach has been booked to and from the cathedral followed by a celebration bring and share lunch in the Church Centre.  More details will follow nearer the time.  Please keep Ailsa in your prayers as she continues her journey.

From the Chester Diocese Cycle of Prayer: Cheshire Wildlife Trust

The Trust cares for a network of 45 nature reserves with habitats ranging from grasslands and wet meadows to reedbeds, coastal dunes and wetlands. These reserves provide a refuge for rare species including natterjack toads, great crested newts, the bittern and a wide range of dragonflies and butterflies. Mammals such as otters and water voles are also regularly recorded, and the Gowy Meadows nature reserve has one of the largest varieties of aquatic invertebrates found anywhere in the UK.

Currently the Trust is working to connect large parts of its reserve network through a Living Landscape scheme. This allows species to move freely along natural corridors like rivers and hedgerows and gives wildlife breathing space under the pressures of development and climate change.

Cheshire’s rivers are often at the centre of Trust projects, whether it be managing wildlife sites on the banks of the River Weaver, helping farmers improve water quality and natural flood management along the River Dane, or making sure wetland birds have safe places to feed, roost and breed in the River Gowy floodplain.

Over 1,000 volunteers currently contribute to the Trust’s work, and recently more than 4,000 children per year have been part of the education programme.

Pray for the work of the Trust and the protection of natural habitats.
