On this page: Notice of reopening for private prayer: a thought for each day during lockdown: arrangements for worship:  safeguarding and past case review notice: welcome to St Michael’s.

We will open the church for PRIVATE PRAYER from 17th June 2020.

The church will be open on Wednesdays 9.30 – 11am and Sundays 9.30 – 11am. No formal services are taking place yet.

To maintain 2 metre (6 feet 6 inches) social distancing, we are limited to a maximum of  25  people in the building using the chairs as laid out. We ask that people do not move chairs as the arrangement has been carefully calculated to keep everyone safe. Please be patient if you have to wait to come in.

Entry is through the foyer. Use the Hand gel on the way in.

There will be a one way system in place. Turn right into the church and find a seat taking care to ensure social distancing as you move around the building.

Exit through the north porch if you can manage the steps, and use the hand gel before leaving. If you need a flat exit, wait by the font until the foyer is clear for you to leave.

Please ensure you maintain good hygiene whilst in the building. Use tissues as necessary and catch it; bin it; kill it.

If you have symptoms of Covid-19 you must not come to church.

Face coverings are not required as people should be 2 metres apart, but you may use them if you wish.

We cannot use church Bibles or hymn books. Please bring your own Bible with you if you would like to use one. The devotional candles will not be used.

We look forward to seeing you.

A thought for each day

Safeguarding Past Cases Review

All parishes are required to participate in a Past Cases Review, commissioned by the Church of England. PCR2, as it is known nationally, is part of the Church’s ongoing scrutiny of its handling of past and current safeguarding cases. An Independent Reviewer will be looking at files relating to church officers in this parish, both lay and ordained, past and present.

Individuals who wish to make representations to the PCR2 process, or who need to come forward with information or make any disclosures, are encouraged to make direct contact with the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser. However, recognising that this may not feel safe for those with a lived experience of abuse from within the Church, a dedicated telephone helpline – 0800 80 20 20 – operated independently from the Church, by the NSPCC, has been set up.

Safeguarding Information

St Michael & All Angels takes its duty and obligation to protect all extremely seriously. We have adopted the national Church of England’s robust procedures and guidelines. You can find out more about the national policies and procedures at

If you have any safeguarding concerns or issues of a safeguarding matter then you can find useful contact information at

St Michael and All Angels is a vibrant and friendly church, committed to loving God and being an important part of the local community. We’re a group of down to earth Christians of all ages and backgrounds. What we have in common is that we all want to know God better, spend time together as a church and help others to know the good news of Jesus.

Everyone is welcome. You don’t need to be a Christian to visit the church or the website. We are especially happy to meet people who are wondering what Christianity is all about. Don’t worry if you are not familiar with church – we’re always happy to explain anything that doesn’t make sense to you.

We hope you enjoy looking round the site. We’d love the opportunity to meet you, so do get in touch or drop in and say hello.
