Our latest Marmalade Fair (Saturday 2 March)
saw many people visit the church centre for bacon butties, marmalade sandwiches, refreshments and friendly. Thank you to all those who supported the event, our marmalade makers, cake bakers and our team who ran the event.
In February 2012, St Michael’s temporarily moved to South Africa for our first Marimba Workshop.
A total of eleven children from the parish joined Mayo Yoshida to experience the fun of playing South African music, on Marimbas and Djembe drums. With each child playing a slightly different part, several different rhythms going on at once, all to the chant of ‘in the jungle, walking steady, climbing treetops’. Our mascot for the day (named ‘Banana’, by James) kept us all steady and in time.
A great afternoon was had by all, and we very much hope to be able to continue to play and learn some more in the next few months.
We are most grateful to the St Bridget’s Educational Trust for the funds to run these workshops
In December 2012, St Michael’s church went back two thousand and thirteen years – to the birth of Jesus – complete with stable, shepherds and even Roman soldiers!
